The Arts - Merryn Austin & Jo Elhage
The Lalor Primary School Arts Program encompasses Visual and Performing Arts. Our approach to the Arts is to provide students with opportunities to gain knowledge of the Arts Elements and how to develop this knowledge into action. We endeavour to engage students in creative thinking through investigating a range of traditional and contemporary art forms such as Dance, Drama, Media, Music and Visual Arts.
Visual Arts at Lalor is a place where each student can develop creative thinking and problem solving skills. Students are able to explore and learn about the Elements of Art and artistic techniques through such things as drawing, painting and constructing. Students learn to plan and experiment with their ideas to create something of their own. Opportunities are provided for students to use many different materials and techniques as well as opportunities to explore creating art using technology such as iPads, photography and computer.
The Performing Arts program strives to give students an opportunity to plan, create, record and perform in front of audiences. The students are taught strategies and skills to enable them to produce and perform pieces for small events and larger productions. Students are supported to use new technologies to explore the Performing Arts. Our lunch-time dance and choir groups are popular with students with an interest in Performing Arts.
