Our Prep teachers are...

In Prep we aspire to developing the 'whole child' by planning and implementing a balanced curriculum. These are some of the subjects in which we explore to foster the children's love for learning.
Language is the means by which we communicate with the world around us. Our English program aims to develop in students; the ability to speak, listen, read, view and write effectively with confidence and enjoyment. Children are involved in using a range of reading materials eg. books, magazines, websites, signs, poems and film.
Maths helps us make sense of the world around us. It involves skills that we use throughout life. Through our mathematics program students gain an understanding and confidence with mathematical concepts and the capacity to use these in problem solving. The mathematical concepts we focus on are; Number, Measurement, Chance & Data, Space and Working Mathematically.
Inquiry-based learning nurtures and develops the students' natural inquiring mind, helping them to become life-long learners who continue to learn how to learn. Students develop an ability to pose questions and plan, research and investigate. In Prep we explore the units; 'Sharing and caring', 'Ch-Ch-Ch Changes', 'Fairness and Friendship' and 'Topsy Turvy Tales'. These units aim to develop an understanding of community, change, social justice and creativity.
Technology is a key component to living and learning in the 21st century. In Prep we place a great emphasis on the use of technology to support the curriculum. Students use a variety of Ipads, Ipods and laptops as tools to support their work in Literacy, Numeracy and Inquiry.
To promote a smooth transition from preschool to school, the Preps are involved in a year long Buddy Program. At the beginning of the year students are introduced to their Year 5/6 buddy and are involved in buddy sessions on a fortnightly basis. This program embeds the values of; caring for others, friendliness, respect, valuing differences, including others and responsibility.
