This week, Year 1/2 students refined their understanding of fractions of a whole. They investigated the relationship between halves, quarters and eighths by exploring the real-life example of slices of pizza. Students carefully followed a series of instructions to construct their own paper pizza, complete with a selection of toppings. Students identified each slice (or fraction of the whole pizza) by creating unique toppings for that slice. Some students shared their work with the class digitally, using their ICT skills to photograph their work, crop the images and upload to Book Creator.
