The Grade 5/6s enthusiastically participated in a workshop with Michael Ymer during which they were engaged with lots of fun and hands-on Numeracy activities.
The Grade 5/6s applied their knowledge of the mathematical concept of the Cartesian Plane by locating co-ordinates around the school in a kind of Numeracy Treasure Hunt.
The Grade 5/6s participated in an Auskick super clinic to have fun while building some footy skills.
As part of our Term 3 "Care For the Kids" Inquiry project into the idea of social justice, the Grade 5/6s participated in a Slam Poetry workshop incursion during which they engaged with Manal Younus, a local poet who helped them consider the mechanics of writing in a fun and engaging way.
In keeping with our "Think Global, Act Local" Inquiry unit that is focused on Sustainability, the Grade 5/6s had an excursion to CERES in East Brunswick to learn about the impact that humans have on the environment and what every day things they can do to minimise their global footprint and be more ecologically minded.
The 5/6 area had a lot of fun considering the kinds of occupations they would like to have in the future and dressing up to play the part.
The Grade 5/6s have been working towards creating a digital portfolio of their progress with our Inquiry Project into natural phenomena. The digital portfolio will be using Weebly to create a personalised website for each student to chronicle their work throughout the remainder of the year.
The Grade 5/6s have been working hard making cards and paper flowers to thank the special people in their lives.
The Grade 5/6s had a fantastic and enlightening excursion to the Parliament House of Victoria, where some lucky students were able to role-play being members of parliament. While in the city, the students also took in Captain Cook's Cottage and The Fitzroy Gardens.
